The doctor I saw was dismissive and condescending. Dr. Jan-Paul Roovers did a vaginal exam, then sat down and asked if I thought I ovulate every month, a question I found confusing because no woman knows this. He then said that since I have "a lot of hair down there" I may have PCOS. I had not shared any concerns relating to PCOS, nor any symptoms. He didn't ask my fertility history or anything about my periods. His choice to connect PCOS based on nearly nothing relevant to my case w/ my pubic hair is absurd and bad practice. Before this I had told him how I am now 38 and experiencing difficulty sleeping, regulating my body temperature, and having vaginal dryness all for the first time in my life. I said I was hoping to learn more about perimenopause. He replied by telling me that women are too eager to think there is something really wrong and we think everything is perimenopause. He said that since I am not 40 there is zero chance I am experiencing perimenopause....
